Our first experience with OmniTRANS was in 2005. At that time we were using another package for research and education purposes. It was clear from the start that the development environment offered by OmniTRANS offers much more flexibility to include our own algorithms. The software allows us to put all our energy in the algorithms, as we no longer have to worry about writing our own network editing and data analysis tools.

Each year we have about 100 master students that use OmniTRANS in their transport modelling courses. We have found that students easily find their way in the software and that they hardly need any support. Therefore, we find OmniTRANS very convenient for teaching.

Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering Faculty in Belgrade, Serbia is the greatest Transport Engineering Faculty in the region. Long tradition in quality of education is an obligation for constant improvements. In that sense, OmniTRANS was first involved in education process in 2009 at the Traffic Engineering Department. More than 300 students at the Bachelor studies learned to use OmniTRANS as a tool for Transportation Planning. While nearly 50 Master students received advanced knowledge trough the further use of the software.
Workings with OmniTRANS students get opportunity to explore the software and to get the basis to use all similar tools in their engineering practise.
OmniTRANS free demonstration version enabled us to form the ambitious teaching programme since it enables students to expand their skills according to their own interests. Each student develops the whole transportation model of the city from scratch and this project is used in all activities trough Bachelor and Master Studies.

We have been using the Lecturer Pack since 2004. The Lecturer Pack really supports me in teaching of transport modeling and practical applications, and enables the students to understand the theory much quicker. The exercises are clearly defined and easy to adapt to my own teaching method. I was able to add a case study of the city in Delft, which makes it to the students very familiar. All exercises and case studies can be performed with the free demonstration version of OmniTRANS, such that the students can even install the software at home and work on the exercises without any license!
