The softwarepackage is based on the Dutch Guidelines for junction clearance periods.
Q-HOT determines the clearance times of signalled intersections in an instant. Q-HOT is fully compliant with the CROW guidelines and interoperable with COCON.
The calculation of the clearance times at signalled intersections is currently a time consuming task. The various turn lanes, conflict points, entrance and clearance distances are determined and measured with pencil and rulers on printed copies of the intersection drawings. Subsequently, the clearance times are calculated in COCON on the basis of parameter settings and formulas originating from the CROW guidelines.
Q-HOT eases the task and allows one to perform the same manual operations on a computer display with a few mouse clicks.
Q-HOT is a software in which the clearance times of standard signalled intersections can be quickly calculated. Based on the intersection digital drawing, initial turn lanes are generated and can be later modified as needed. The determination and calculation of conflict points, entrance and clearance distances, and clearance times happens automatically. Q-HOT provide multiple export facilities for the calculated clearance times such as reports for accountability, direct export to COCON or export to vehicle activated traffic installations.
The main advantages of Q-HOT are:
