On its own initiative and management, our agent Goudappel Coffeng has set up a multimodal traffic model covering the whole area of The Netherlands. This national traffic model has the following important characteristics:
Next to the static assignments, the model includes dynamic traffic assignments for the morning rush hours for both the base and 2020 forecast situation. The resulting estimated travel times form an important input for the national accessibility map (www.bereikbaarheidskaart.nl). This model is fully multi-modal. It comprises a detailed representation of the Dutch public transport network with more than 4.000 public transport lines and 25.000 stops and stations. The whole model is operational within OmniTRANS 5.1. The public transport multi-routing assignment is carried out using the Zenith algorithm (OtTransit class) while the latest version of MaDAM is used to dynamically assign vehicular traffic for the rush hour periods.
This model represents an important foundation of Goudappel Coffeng’s internal developments and innovation in the area of transport modelling. With this model, the company can produce independent national forecasts and offer local model applications in the
