OmniTRANS Overview
OmniTRANS is a modern integrated development platform for multi-modal transport modelling. OmniTRANS provides the tools to manage projects, scenarios, modelling jobs and associated data in a consistent manner, making the development of transport models cost-efficient and the comparison of model results straightforward. The application promotes the notion that a transport model is a project which must be accessible not only to modellers but also to non-technical decision makers.
Taking advantage of the its elegant multi-dimension concept and its integration with the Ruby programming language, OmniTRANS offers proven modelling classes that can be mixed and matched to suit all forms of transport model, from traditional 4-step model through to elastic demand and dynamic assignment. Latest advances in transport research can be easily integrated as new Ruby components, facilitating experimentation and a rapid implementation within a project.
Key Characteristics
- multi-modal and multi-temporal system to model the interactions of various transport modes in an urban context;
- aggregate and disaggregate demand modelling methods, including matrix estimation techniques supporting an unlimited set of constraints;
-
static traffic assignment with integrated junction modelling;
- multi-modal and multi-temporal junction modelling engine, with rich interfaces to define the geometric layout and signal plans at junctions;
-
dynamic traffic assignment modelling explicitly the interactions between junctions, blocking back and the downstream effects of queues;
- mode chain public transport assignment for the modelling of complex schemes such as park-and-ride, kiss-and-ride and bike-and-ride;
- intuitive interface and clear presentation of results opening the doors of transport modelling to the community at large (Data Manager and Viewer);
- ability to process and manage the type of data associated with a transport model within the context of the modelling environment;
- open architecture via its seamless integration with the open source object-oriented language Ruby providing unlimited potential for modelling feedback loops, integrating third-party products and developing innovative transport applications.
