When developing a transport model, you are usually faced with handling a large amount of data. The OmniTRANS Data Manager, as well as being the base pack required to host the other OmniTRANS modelling packs, provides as its name suggests, the functionality required to manage this data.
Project Management
OmniTRANS supports the philosophy that a model comprises a series of scenarios, where different network variants are tested against different demand variants, and if required using different sets of modelling parameters At the project level, OmniTRANS provides the tools which allow you to create, organise and manage these scenarios in a simple and straightforward manner.
Network Management
Within an OmniTRANS model, the different types of data ('objects') which are supported when constructing a model comprise:
A model's network can contain some or all of these objects, depending on the nature of the model being built, with each object having a set of associated attributes. As well as each object type having its own set of predefined attributes, users can specify an extended set of attributes where necessary.
OmniTRANS provides an easy-to-use visual network editing interface to work with these objects. Features include multiple object editing with a full 'undo' capability, object annotation, advanced filtering and a range of selection mechanisms, based on object attributes. Networks are stored in a dedicated GIS based format and full support is available for import/export to several industry formats.
Designed as a true multimodal transport modelling package, OmniTRANS provides full support of both highway and transit networks. Special attention is given to the seamless integration of multiple modes in the same network. Management of transit networks is established by creating, editing and configuring transit stops and transit lines.
A special junction editor allows a wide variety of junction types to be defined, visualising the geometric layout and settings of intersections including approach-, exit, bus priority and special lanes.
Demand Data
OmniTRANS features a series of interfaces to handle all spatially-attributed data, such as demand matrices, land use and socio-economic data.. Full editing functionality is available for modifying demand data, both in the graphical interface as through model scripts. Of course, interfaces to other industry standards and Windows applications are available.
Template Design and Model Toolkit
The concept of templates allows you to define a default model structure for all your studies carried out in your organisation. In addition, you can develop your own model toolkit of model scripts which can easily be distributed to all your model users.
